Acoustic Market Reports
Acoustic device specification sheets are notoriously inadequate or even misleading, so much so that comparing devices based upon manufacturer spec sheets is usually a wasted effort. Techniques such as listing the digital-to-analog dynamic range instead of system dynamic range or reporting max output SPL at a non-user distance are common. Even professional critic reviews also can vary widely depending on the person's preferences and ability to listen critically. And test setup and methodology are vitally important to getting good and repeatable data.
IAR's Acoustic Market Reports survey several popular devices in a product category- comparing system-level acoustic performance metrics that matter and measured the same way each time.
Market Reports are at a technically approachable level for senior-level and technical management without a background in acoustics.
Custom Market reports including your curated selection of competitive devices is available upon request.

Technical Acoustic Product Reports
Technical Acoustic Product Reports include a deep dive into one product and find out how it derives its acoustic performance. TAPR's are intended to provide Acoustic, Mechanical or System Engineers with guidance they need to make early conceptual or developmental engineering decisions about a new product design, without spending the time to reverse engineer competitive products themselves. Each device's system level measurements (which are part of the Market Reports) are shown in explicit detail. In addition, the device is torn down and measured at installed transducer (without any exterior enclosure) and component (microphone or speaker) level. The audio architecture is documented and used chipsets in the audio architecture are revealed. Excel data underlying each plot is provided for comparing against your own measurements.
