Engineering Intern - Summer 2022
Indy Acoustic Research is seeking a summer engineering intern to assist with development of tools and prototypes for a small business specializing in Engineering Acoustic Design. This position requires a general knowledge of science and engineering processes and acute knowledge in an engineering discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, physics or acoustics. Must be self-starter who can work in a small, dynamic group environment and has attention to detail. Should have a desire to design and build objects using Electrical CAD software, Circuit board/Enclosure assembly, script Linux shell and interface with audio DSP evaluation kits.

Example Duties
Actual duties may vary based upon expertise of intern. Examples include:
- Design of Electrical Circuits and Electronic Assembly Enclosures
- Design 3D enclosures, Operate and post-process prints from FDM and/or SLA 3D printers
- Code (e.g. C#) scripts to accumulate data and command USB or Serial port devices.
- Interface and acoustically test microphone DSP evaluation kits
- Code (e.g. Python / Matlab) Acoustic signal processing scripts to analyze waveforms.
- Code VBA scripts to automatically process or manipulate excel data.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to speak and write fluent English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
- Self-Directed and able to work and innovate without supervision, including self-taught learning of new software and hardware.
- Minimum second-year University level completion of Physics, Calculus, and specialized engineering courses.
Desired Qualifications
- General knowledge of in-air Acoustics and Acoustic measures such as: Hertz, dB(SPL), frequency weighting, averaging, and wave propagation theory
- Ability to code in Matlab, Visual Basic/VBA, C#, LabView or Python
- Familiarity with Raspberry Pi platform, and Linux shell
- Mechanical design experience using 3D CAD software
- Experience with 3D printing and fabrication
- Ability to solder
